Founded by artist Helena Tompson, Grove Gallery is a living creative space in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, open 365 days a year and designed to offer something new every time you walk through the door.
Following four decades in New Zealand, Helena returns to the UK with a vision to create a gallery experience that feels warm, evolving, and far removed from the formality of traditional art spaces. Grove Gallery is not simply an exhibition venue, but an ever-changing destination for creativity, collecting, and discovery.
From original artwork and artist exhibitions to dog portraits, antiques, community showcases, and carefully curated finds, the gallery is designed to continually evolve. Whether you’re an established collector, looking for a unique gift, or simply popping in to see what’s new, there is always something different to discover.
Alongside the permanent rotation of eclectic pieces and creative collections, Grove Gallery also hosts a changing programme of artist exhibitions featuring both emerging and established talent from the local area and beyond. These curated showcases add another layer to the experience, offering fresh perspectives throughout the year.
For artists, selected residency and exhibition opportunities are available via application, ensuring each collaboration aligns with the gallery’s distinctive vision.

Helena Tompson
Helena Tompson is an internationally experienced artist, muralist, and curator with a career spanning the UK and New Zealand. Having spent recent years on Waiheke Island, where she successfully operated four galleries, Helena brings a wealth of creative and commercial experience to Grove Gallery.
Known for her bespoke murals, decorative paint finishes, fine art commissions, and much-loved dog portraits, Helena’s work is deeply personal and highly skilled, whether creating immersive large-scale interiors or capturing the unique character of a beloved pet. Her work can be found in private homes, hospitality spaces, and commissioned interiors both in the UK and abroad.
As founder of Grove Gallery, Helena combines her artistic eye with a curator’s perspective, creating a space dedicated to exceptional work, fresh talent, and meaningful artistic discovery.
